Why you should clean your gutters
Your gutters play an important role in the effectiveness of your roof by deflecting rainwater and protecting your foundation from damage. Unfortunately your gutters can collect debris over time and prevent rainwater from passing through.
Neglecting to clean your gutters can cause more issues than many people realize. The buildup of debris, clogging your gutters and preventing rainwater from passing through can cause the water to back up. Water backup in your gutters can lead to leaks, damage to your overhangs, soffit, fascia, windows and foundation, as well as ice dams during colder weather. All of this can cause issues on the interior and exterior of your home.
So how often should you have your gutters cleaned? We recommend at least twice a year and possibly more depending on the trees/leaves you have falling in your yard. Remember you my not have trees in your yard, but any nearby trees can cause issues with debris. A good time to have them cleaned is the beginning of Spring and the end of Fall.
You my also want to consider gutter guards as an option to help keep the debris out and keep the gutters flowing. A good option that we offer is Mastic Leaf Relief Gutter Guard.
